W123 Speedometer cable

Are all W123 speedometer cables interchangeable? I can't seem to find any part numbers in the EPC to cross reference.

No. There's a square drive or rectangular drive IIRC. I don't have access to EPC and cannot search the net at the moment.

Not exactly interchangeable - I think you have to be a bit careful. I found out recently for example that for a 5 speed W201 a longer cable is needed. It looks like the W123 is the same =>

This is just what I've found - you do need to have a better look about for yourself.

Interesting. Ok so it looks like I will just source a new one then. I was hoping to save a few $$$ by buying a used one on ebay. Thanks guys!
