I blew air into the tank already. When you say force a rod into the tank, are you saying to push it through the tank outlet on the front of the tank where the fuel line attaches? It's difficult to understand without a picture. My other idea was to gently tap the top layer of the reservoir up to open the gap between the bottom of the tank and the top of the reservoir. That portion is where my constriction is. The top of the reservoir has collapsed right where the strainer goes into the tank so I get little to no flow into the reservoir.

This is where to insert the rods, may not need to be very long.

This is where my selection of mini pry bars is handy..

another thing you can do is swap the lines, so your fuel return is pressurizing the fuel flow into the tank through the strainer reservoir... that would push your biobor/startron cleaners through the section and clean it out. it'll also boost the pressure to your lift pump until the line is clear...

Figured I would follow up and let everyone know, the threads on the 300D strainer are exactly the same as on the 300TD. Strainer went right in. I'm going to go back and modify the lower reservoir when the temps get better and I'm not laying in a snow drift.

Curt and WHUNTER thank you for keeping this thread going as so many get ended before all of the problems have been solved. After seeing that mini little prybar, should there be another thread started on does WHUNTER have this automotive tool (photo must be posted)

i think its Its not the same !!! the 300d and the 300td different strainer. The 300d have hole the bottom for connect the fuel line (see pictures first 2 pictures 300d and the last pictures 300td) the 300td does not have the hole and have groowe the side . The tread same but different. The part # the 300d : 2014700 406 the 300td :2104700 506

definitely different strainers, I had a continuing algae problem in my '79 300TD. Replace the fuel tank if its bent underneath, its easier to change the wagon tank than the sedan and you can easily look into the tank thru the top by removing the level sensor. BTDT.
