So are they selling a stick shift diesel C class in the USA or not? The pics certainly seem to suggest that.

That would be awesome.

But I'm too jaded to believe that...

What makes you guys think that they will sell them in the USA?
There have been many models made there that have been for export only.
The only way many of you would get to drive one would be to jump the fence & borrow one for a while!!

They don't generally allow American journalists to tool around the US in cars not offered in the US. They sell a manual C class in the US right now so a manual diesel isn't a huge stretch. The 2.1L diesel has already been federalized in the E class and sprinter.

They do? I didn't see that listed on the MBUSA web site.

They're probably out of stock by now since production of the 2014 model has already ended.

Sounds logical. My Consumer Reports book shows the current C-class as coming with a 6-speed.

First thing I noticed after finding this the other day in that interior-pic shot, was the manual shifter.

Well, if ALL the pics in the article were from the 17 or was it 14 party entourage from Houston to Detroit, then it is indeed a manual. There's a cell phone charger cord appearing in the pic, which would make me think that it was indeed a manual car used in the roadtrip by jounalists since a studio shot would have seen to it that the cord was out of the pic. Just some guess here, but I think we may have found the next new W123 manual diesel here, for any future purists born after 2010.

At least the grille three pointed star doesn't look like a cheezy aftermarket kit that some wannabes have been very fond of putting on their old C & E classes.

The hood ornaments are being phased out I guess. Mercedes-Benz must've focus-grouped and discovered the added marketing and sales value of making everything they ship, look like an S or SL Class.

Maybe the hood star deletion was politically motivated by the green party? (the same wonderful people that brought us biodegradable wiring insulation.)

The aerodynamic drag induced by millions of hood stars over billions of miles has burned a lot of extra dinosaur juice.
