Fuel Tank Strainer Question

I have a unique situation with my TD. You can read about it here Explanation of problem and reason for my question

I plan to replace the current TD tank strainer with one from a 300D to by pass the collapsed reservoir in my fuel tank however, I don't know if the thread diameter and pitch are the same on both strainers.

Can anyone verify that they are either the same or different?

If they are different, I'm just going to take the TD strainer I have and drill and tap it so I can put a hose barb on it similar to the setup on the 300D strainer.

Two indirect questions:

1) If you add a fuel fitting to the center of the TD strainer, how will you tighten the strainer?

2) Is the TD strainer over something that will interfere with or protect the fuel line you plan to attach to the strainer? The sedan fuel line is protected by the axle.

Good point, I'll probably end up having to use a pipe wrench. The nice thing about the TD is its easy to get to.

No, I'm going to have to install a 90* elbow in it as well to keep it from hanging straight down.
