The original MB battery in my '97 was flooded cell and located under the rear seat. The vent tube was routed through the floor.

Bought a Bosch group 49 at Pep-Boys last fall for my 240D. About $110. Don't recall if it was on sale. A nearly-new used battery might be a good alternative to a reconditioned one. Last week I got a $30 2-month-old Autocraft battery at the Pick-N-Pull for my brother's '94 4-Runner. With a blown head-gasket, it needs only to run long enough to move out of the garage when we need to get in the attic.

Happy Motoring, Mark
