Headlights only work on low beam

The headlights on my car only work on low beam which is good but there are times when high beam is needed and I would like to get them to work
I checked the light bulbs they are good.
I checked for power with a test light at the light socket only low beam has power.
I checked the high beam fuses they are good but I noticed there is no power at the fuses for the high beam lights so I removed the fuses there is no power at either terminal in the fuse panel.
Is there a relay or fuse that I missed?
I belive the only other part to check is the multifunction switch which I think might be bad since all the light power goes through that switch

I think you've found the problem.

Try the flash to pass (pull back on the combo switch), I think it's a separate contact...

I had the same problem on a 123.
The contacts in the switch were dirty.

I believe I have this problem as well. Were you able to dis-assemble the Multi-Function swith and clean the contacts or did you have to replace it?

I was able to clean it up, but don't ask me how.
This was a long time ago and the 123 switch may be different from yous.

Ok folks I tried the flash to pass feature and no change in the lighting.
Now I get to remove a steering wheel with a airbag unless there is a different way to fix the switch.
Need help with the removal of the multifunction switch

Multifunction Switch Removal

I am having this problem with my 300D. When I push the multifunction switch to turn on the high beams, the low beams turn off, no high beams and everything is dark.

I am trying to take the multifunction switch out to clean it. I removed the two large Phillips head screws and was able to wiggle the switch partly out. I was expecting to see a plug-in that I could separate but do not see it. A black and yellow wire are attached to screws and I unscrewed those but that has still not freed it up. What is the procedure for getting the switch out? Do I have to remove the steering wheel or is the plug in further down the column under the dash?

Thanks for any input.

RML, have you checked fuses and bulbs already? If not, I suggest you do.

I did not check the fuses or bulbs. I know that makes sense as a first step in most cases, but in this case either both high beams work or neither, which would eliminate a bulb problem. And also, the problem in intermittent, which would suggest it is not a fuse problem.

I did just go digging a bit further, took the panel off below the dash (above the knees) and was able to unplug the switch. I brought the switch inside, will get it on the workbench and see if I can clean it up. I had a similar problem recently with the multifunction switch in my Toyota van and am hoping this will be as easy. I will report back.

I pulled out the high beam turn signal multifunction switch and got it onto the bench. It does not appear to be very easily serviceable. The electrical and mechanical sections are riveted together. I could drill out the rivets and replace them with small screws, but I am wondering if when I try to separate the sections a bunch of springs and other small parts will come flying out onto my bench. I'll shoot some compressed air into the switch and reinstall it for now.

Has anyone attempted to clean or otherwise service this switch and been successful?

Id still check your lights. You could have been running with one high beam out for some time and the other finally went too.
