Climate control Temp sensor

Can anyone tell me where the temp sensor that's in the middle of the dash connects to. I have looked around and don't see where it goes mine has deteriated and have had some weird climate control issues just wanted to get this hooked back up and rule it out. A pic would be great.

The 123 300Ds (and 85 and earlier 300SDs) with auto climate control have a little square grill in the dash. Underneath this dash grill is the sensor.

To provide a good sample of the ambient air in the car, a hose connects from the grill to a port on the suction side of the climate control blower. This hose was made of foam rubber in the 123s and it deteriorates over time. If it crumbles, the sensor will not get a good air temperature sample and the regulation will be terrible.

In case anyone is reading this with a 124/later 126, the sensor is in the front dome light and there is a rubber hose down the passenger side A pillar to a dedicated aspiration blower behind the glove box.

silly putting the climate control sensor on the dash.... in the sun..... were it gets hot..... in the sun..... where the sun can shine on it...... and get hot..... in the sun......

way better would be to just relocate it to the intake to the blower, in the air stream if possible...... not in the sun....

Yup that's why the 124s and later have the sensor in the dome light assembly.

oh my gosh that R&R on the evap is scary, and i was wondering how hard it would be to get in under all this because it looks like the evap drain hose is dried up and gone on my car.

still wondering if you could replace it all with say a toyota climate control system.....
