1979 240D 4speed manual Light Blue

Has anyone noticed I quit giving my cars names? I'm sure I didn't run out of creativity nor names. Maybe using the year, model, color, or some other distinguishing factor makes it more memorable? Maybe we can nickname this one China Blue Two. :-)

Well, remember last week, I posted this on a different thread:
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/3273190-post48.html
JimmyL --- not for sure if this was the same color combo of China Blue, but when I saw the car for the first time, I thought of you, China, and her recent dismise.

So, here is the thread and the pics. I bought this car on Friday, Jan 17th. The Seller is helping a widow neighbor; the previous owner was widow neighbor's husband who passed away in December. The Seller told me the car runs......pretty sure the neighbor man had it up and down the street last year. Battery dead. Outside is decent; has a few dings. Water in the trunk, but only in the passenger side well. Interior is very good, front seat covers are covering up great looking seats, has all the hubcaps, right rear tire wouldn't hold air nor will left front tire; hence the spares that I had went on it yesterday. Front windshield has been replaced in the past.

The first battery we tried; supposedly a charged up Group 49 that I took off the trickle charger last week, barely moved the started. I made a trip back to my house to grab a too tall, known HOT battery. We dropped it in and the car started after the first glow cycle. Clutch is good. Brakes non-existent. Good emergency brake though. I need an extra foot to drive this thing if I'm going to use the emergency brake to drive it. An extra hand would be good, too. Drove it to the Seller's house across the street. I can't take delivery of this car until the 87 Champagne leaves on Wednesday due to limited parking.

Nice. Are you going to keep this one for awhile or fix and sell?

"Keep" is a relative term; everything is for sale. :-)

I think it's going to be a fix the brakes, clean it up, and sell. The mileage is less than 200K. Good solid car; naturally, no rust. I might keep it long enough to teach my oldest daughter turning 16 this year how to drive a manual 4 speed. Her birthday is in August and she doesn't have her permit yet, so maybe I won't have to do anything to the AC. This car could serve her well from this year's Fall until Spring of next year; at which time, I might have the 1984 300D with the Red interior done for her to drive.

So, does that kind of answer your question? Yes, No, probably, don't know when though.

I think you need to put some air in that back seat, looking a little flat :P

Nice looking car, should clean up nice....I would change out the clutch slave cylinder why your doing the brakes....will fail soon after..as they always do...

Very-very gentle color pastellblau (I think). :mickey:
Somewhat rare, because this color was available only up to 1979 (MY1980) fro w123.
Niiiiicee. :)
