Well, it wasn't specifically an offer (I am parting a car out to lower the cost of my project), but let me take a look at what I have. I have, I think, three bumpers in fair condition. If the shocks can be easily separated from an otherwise junk bumper, then I'd be happy to help you out. Wouldn't refuse a few dollars or a possible barter situation, either, though

I'll take a look at my parts pile today and let you know what I have.

I bought a starter from Rick a little while ago, and he seems like a very nice guy. I even went into his dark basement with him and he didn't tie me up & hold me for ransom (although maybe that is because he thought it would turn into a "send us $5000 or we send your kid back"-type of situation).

Cool.

Anyhow, I was outside painting some hubcaps for my VW, so I had time to check my parts stash. Lo and behold, I DO have a pair of bumper shocks to spare. They're yours if you want to make a trip up to Worcester, MA.

Well, I do try to be a nice guy. Most of the time.

that sounds like a service you'd have to pay for

Rick-I'll shoot you a PM when I can get up there. What kind of beer do you prefer? I have a couple of empty growlers to return to Trinity brewhouse

To be fair, most of my parts stash is in the basement. It's not where I usually entertain.

Trinity Brewhouse? Never heard of it. EDIT - just checked out their website. My wife and I need to make a trip there. Looks awesome.

Generally, I like all beer, but my top five favorite styles have to be (in no particular order) hefeweizen, stout, porter, IPA, and dunkelweizen.

No rush on picking up the bumper shocks - they're not going anywhere.

This won't end well for either party. He's been through several jobs recently and I wouldn't be suprised if he was showing up stoned.

I won't miss him if he gets locked up- he feeds the dogs treats @ the park despite many people asking him repeatedly to stop- whenever he shows up there is instantly a pack of friends surrounding him, following wherever he goes.
I usually just leave when problem people or dogs show up. I did PM the curator of the parks FB page to spread the word on the DL, and she echoed my concerns.
If he's broke, out of work, AND on drugs that impair his operating a motor vehicle, please consider contacting the authorities to get him off the road, so others aren't injured or worse by this guy. I hate to read stuff like this where there's a known impaired driver and nothing is reported about the person. No one is entitled to be driving that is drug-impaired, without LE consequences.

What would an insurance estimate of the damage be on the car?

Their burgers rock. Also pool & darts downstairs

When I used to live in Providence a favorite pastime was to hang out by the windows & watch folks go into the Dunk--Disney stars on ice & the monster truck jams were my favorite. One crowd had baloons n colorfull clothing, the other, camo & earmuffs. All were dragging kids along. Not having any myself, I was happy I didn't have to do any of that & could just drink.

Joe-

you are right. Dropping a dime could be the right thing to do. If my assesment was wrong-no harm done, if right, possibly save a life.

I did share the incident with the larger dogpark community in hopes that the more civic-minded individuals would make that judgement call, even if it is just talking to him directly. I'm having a hard time-I'm very non-confrontational. I know the guy, even sympathize a little, even though I don't particularly care for him.

I also would not be at all suprised if he had no insurance, contrary to state law.
Having read through recent threads concerning claims on cars, dealing with that is more trouble than its worth. An adjuster would look at my car and laugh, i'm afraid. I'll take some photos & post tomorrow, let you guys weigh in.

Unless you report in real time on the guy you suspect driving impaired, I doubt you can get him stopped or arrested.

About the adjuster? It seems like that car model is a money-maker when it comes to various degrees of damage.

I did let it go, for good or for ill, possibly to my loss, hopefully to no one else's.

Perhaps its telling that within the past year, 2 other inattentive drivers have driven into me, one in reverse, one forward, both with only light bumper damage to my car. I let it go. Nothing hurt other than a little pride. Its our scars that make us interesting, a history of life's experience.
