Finally did it... BOUGHT MY MB DIESEL :)
So excited, pictures coming tomorrow. It's an 05 with 69K miles, a few details need attention (interior) but overall in a very nice shape and nicely optioned.
VERY VERY HAPPY, will be picking it up on Monday!!! Thanks to all that have been patiently answering my questions and offering advice. |

Thanks,
it is hard to explain the color, looks like a varicolor not sure if is a Designo color or not. It is a 1 owner celan carfax no accidents reports no major dirt. It has navigation, dymatic heated seats, sunshades both back window and rear doors (not crazy about those with the kids) wheels are in real nice shape, seats are free of cuts and bruises, just dirty. Overall a pretty clean car. I need to grab a new headrest for the drivers side because the one on the car is cracked (driver side) and a driver side interior door handle the chrome is peeling. The plastic sill on the same side is cracked. Other than that it could use an alignment and new tires and a bluetec motor to get rid of the diesel stench Steering wheel leather is in decent shape with some discolorations and I need to buy all weather mats pronto. The bulbs on the drivers side headlamp were replaced and the dash shows a "right side marker light message" that I need to address as well (light bulb is not out nor led) Some pics below. I'll post more when I pick her up and give her a thorough cleaning If you guys can help identifying the color it would be great! |

I had never seen that color on an MB before, my first reaction was re-paint lol I think that on the trunk is the satellite antenna that I have read no one likes YES, it looks stupid but not deal breaker. Quote:
I have a couple of cool old pictures of my uncles' cars somewhere, I'll see if I can dig them out and post them. I was joking about the diesel smell, I've had them before, and yes, I too like the smell |

The dealy-bob on the trunk lid? Not the satellite antenna. The satellite antenna is at the mid point side to side crest of the rear window/roofline. So it's for something else.... Maybe a CB radio antenna? The pics of the car doesn't look like a Designo from any of the pictures to me. Over the months shopping for a used CDI, I have noticed that many of the used 05 CDIs were loaded-up a little more with equipment options than the '06 CDIs. The diesel exhaust smell on the 06 CDI is less offensive to me than the '99 W210/M606 engine I owned for 14-years. |

I think he meant that he thought that the car was repainted.

Learned NOT to judge a book by its cover...
My CDI came to me with a cracked inner door sill and a rip on the bottom part of the cloth on the door pillar which seems to be somewhat common for this model.
So day three of ownership I went to my local upholstery shop where I've had some work done on my boat in the past (top quality place and OK on prices) in hopes that they could take care of that problem. They told me "at least $250" but it could go up depending on the cost of the cloth and wether they could match it exactly. So from there I put on my steel pants and headed to my local MB dealer, gave them the VIN # and to my surprise they said $150 plus tax I could not believe my ears, so I asked the guy to show me the part on the computer just to make sure we were talking about the same part. WOW, the whole fabric covered plastic piece from ceiling to floor brand new exact match for a bill and a half, $100 cheaper than a repair job. I picked it up this morning along with the plastic inner sill which was cheaper than an eBay salvage part. So I guess that at least for some parts the dealer is not as bad as I thought it would be. I hope to install these parts later on or tomorrow morning. That would make the interior near perfect. Now I just have to wait for the all-weather mats I ordered from fleabay... starting to wonder if I should have order them from the dealer
