300TD rear transmission mount adjustment
On advice in this forum, I have just replaced the rear transmission mount on my 1981 non-turbo 300TD because the park pawl was failing to engage. I had previously replaced the transmission shift rod bushes. While this fixed the park brake problem, I now have a worrying vibration as I accelerate from stop. The vibration becomes less as speed increases. Is there any special procedure for adjusting the mount position on replacement? All I did was leave the two smaller mount bolts and the Allen key headed bolt through the centre of the mount loose until after the weight of the transmission came back on the mount. The new mount I fitted was a Febi from Pelican.
I travelled about 500 highway kilometres pulling a light trailer before I became aware of the problem. I have searched the site looking for advice and have seen references to mount adjustment but no information on what this involves. Your advice would be much appreciated - I have 500 km to travel home in a couple of days time. Andrew Last edited by atmacg; 02-03-2014 at 03:52 PM. Reason: more info on model |

Thanks Cho. the trannie exhaust mount has seen better days, but the other donuts look OK. I will also look more closely at the flex disk.
