These key heads were produced in and shipped from Chicago. I can not think of any reason USPS would hold the package.

I ship a bunch of flat rate boxes (small) every week. From eastcoast to westcoast is about 3 days. Eastcoast to eastcoast can be low as 1 day (next day). Eastcoast to middle USA, about 2 days. Even when there appeared to be A LOT of postal screw-ups a few months ago, I don't think any flatrate box was more than 5 days. USPS has a lot of problems lately, but they are still getting the mail from point A to point B.

Bwhitmore:

I have had two occasions in the last year when a package got delayed at a transfer station (or whatever those are called) for several days with no explanation. If you have the tracking #, you should be able follow where the box is now (apologies if i misunderstood and you have already done that).

One problem I have noticed in the used parts subforum is the number of people who seem to join PP just to sell (sometimes their ads are their first and only posts). I personally do not answer those ads, as I see the risk as too high. I suggest the board owner should impose some sort of filter on the ads, either length of membership on board or number of posts prior to being able to post parts for sale.

In terms of problems with ongoing/established members, I waited well over two months for parts from one forum member, who is still active on and off here. After a series of work/family related excuses, it became apparent he knew just a bit more than zip about these cars. In fact I had to do everything but disassemble my own car and take pics to show him how to pull the very routine part (from inside the dash).

More lately he has posted his intention to 'restore' these cars and 'rebuild' motors. I can hardly wait for someone to buy a 'rebuild' from someone who cannot figure out what a climate control amp is, and where to find it.

To the present matter, I had planned to buy these key heads, and may still do so, if the vendor sorts himself out. I have seen this before on other forums, and for things that cost way more than $20 or whatever these key heads were going for.

One guy making stuff in the back of his garage, while answering inquiries, while mailing out packages, while having another life, etc., stops scaling pretty quick. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

As for the lack of communications, I fully agree he has made things 10x worse by pulling an ostrich and stringing folks along, but active denial is often a pretty normal response when people get into something over their head.

Right now I say give the guy one more shot to show he is fixing this, by the end of this week. After that it's just excuses and hot air.

All true and all very understandable.

I ordered mine near the beginning of December. I just sent him a PM a little while ago. We'll see what happens.

really?

I don't think there's thievery or conspiracy going on here...likely more due to having to deal with unreliable suppliers and not communicating the challenges well. (I ordered one and am waiting as well) Life's too short to stress over a key head. The intent and spirit was in the right place... have faith.

I think he's lying to someone. According to post #52 he had 18 still left on Jan 31.

Put your pitchforks away, and chill out. It's tough to send 500 little things. Some dude slapping these guys together on his kitchen table can have delays.

If you want a refund get one.

We're talking about $30 for some key heads here-$30 buys you dinner out these days, so it's not the end of the world.

Yup, Ryan and others are correct. However, I am thinking that is not the issue. The issue is simply telling folks one is behind the power curve and there are delays. That happens and that is not the end of the world.

Want a refund ? Ask for it and case closed.

However, telling folks that something mailed, that is, physically in the mail, and "maybe" it's not, then there is something wrong with that. But, the US Mail is not running like clockworks like it did a year ago, so delays in the mail do happen. When you get your package, you can compare and contrast the sticker on the box versus when the shipper said it shipped. One or even two days off is not a killer, but a week or longer ... hmmm

My two cents...being a business man.....

Never offer up items to sell if you do not have the inventory on hand....

You may take pre orders for the items, but do not accept payment for the items until they are in hand...

It takes money to make money...

As we can see with this thread....this is what happens when you accept payment for items that you do not have on hand...

According to the USPS tracking info provided by Paypal (not the seller), the key heads supposedly were mailed to me from Chicago on Feb 4 with expected delivery on Feb 7. Today is Feb 12 and still no package. Konradwax will not respond to emails. As you may remember the seller also told me that the key heads were mailed two weeks ago which also turned out not yo be true.

I am posting this info not to complain about the potential loss of my $60 but to warn others about what APPEARS to be a not real honest seller of products. I know there must be more than one plater in Chicago that does anodizing. The anodizing process normally takes no more than a few hours.

While it wasn't Mercedes parts, I have dealt before with business people like him. The signs are all the same.

The issue is not long delivery times. The issue is the lack of communication, or complete misinformation.

Some of those transactions were over $1000. Others were under $50. But each time my only recourse was to dispute the purchase on the basis of non-delivery of goods (one time on my Discover card, another time through the debit on my credit union).

It helps if you make sure he knows that you plan to do this about two weeks before you do, if time allows; it helps your case. Not sure how much time Paypal gives you to dispute.
