Diesel 123 for sale threads in DD- Can a sub forum be created?

I know many of us hang out here (Diesel Discussion), and not often anywhere else on the forum. When someone has a car or parts for sale for their 123 Diesel (vast majority of 123 cars were Diesel in the U.S.), a thread is started in the for sale section. However, for me and others, we hang out here and seldom visit the for sale section. Is it possible to create a sub forum in Diesel Discussion for parts and car sales (Diesel related)? I have seen, and do link to the for sale section when I want to sell or buy something. Would this still be considered a good practice, or should a sub board be created? Example: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/mercedes-used-parts-sale-wanted/350971-123-parchment-interior-pieces-needed.html
I am looking for interior pieces, and I am sure I will get the most interest if I post it here in DD, as many users have Diesel 123's. I think there is not much action over in the for sale section for what I need, so posting it here should yield better results (my opinion of course). Moderators, what say you?....Rich

Answer

Send a PM to the moderator, and they can be moved to the parts request / for sale forum.

Hey RollGuy ----

Those of us that find/sell parts saw your request over in the for sale forum.

Thanks. I don't know how many post/monitor both forums, but like I said, it seems that most don't. I just think I would have more luck finding what I need if the request was posted in DD where all my "homies" are.

I'm always monitoring the parts forum . I think that pretty much everybody who has parts to sell monitors it compulsively.

I don't think a sub forum in DD would get much view... I've always allowed posts in DD that point to for sale stuff that's diesel related...
or are you suggesting a for sale forum just for diesel stuff?

Yes, no, maybe, I don't know! It just seems that if I post the want ad here where all (or most of) the 123's hang out, I would find what I need. However, maybe there is more DD users that frequent the for sale threads than I had originally thought. If it is allowed to link my want ad here, then I will be satisfied that no more exposure can be had....Rich

for that matter... what do you need from a 123? I've got 3 sets of parts stored in my loft, and a pair of 123's to part/sell...

The way I see this forum (not just DD, but the whole shop forum) is that it's not broken down into specific chassis or models like it is on BW, for example. So a 123-specific classifieds under DD will make non-123 diesels owners wanting. To satisfy that, there will have to be DD-specific classifieds and it will make the sections confusing.

In comparison, BW is divided into specific chassis and models, so a subsection (for example, a 123-specific classifieds in the 123 section of BW) works well.

But that's just me.

A parts and accessories forum is in order - if there's not one already.

The For Sale forum should be for; whole cars, running or not. Not parts or accessories, IMO.

Whether there should be a Diesel Parts/Accessories forum? I dunno....but diesels are a major draw to PP, as we all know.....

I know you really didn't have to ask. You did see his ad:
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/mercedes-used-parts-sale-wanted/350971-123-parchment-interior-pieces-needed.html
in the Used Parts forum, right?

Joe --- Haven't you seen the Used Parts Forum? Here's a link to it:
Mercedes Used Parts For Sale & Wanted - PeachParts Mercedes ShopForum

I agree with Jooseppi. We've got a Parts Forum already. The one issue I see with creating a DD for sale parts sub-forum is what about the w123 & w126 gassers? Would they need their own sub-forum, too?

I havent received replies from private mesages to moderators, so i will ask it here as this thread seems appropriate. Is it acceptable in the classifieds section to link to Ebay auctions for my S123 parts cars?
