Dude, have you ever looked at a map of Canada ?

I am (roughly speaking ) north of you, in Quebec. He is in British Columbia, just north of... Washington State.

Thanks but I have other plans for my weeks of annual vacation leave .

lol, yeah it would have been a rather long journey for him.

Well I went out yesterday and picked the 240D up. It's going to be quite the project, there is a definite hole in the drivers side floor plan (I haven't explored how big yet, it's missing the drivers side window, been sitting outside without it for 6 months, the master cylinder has been leaking for a long time and has rusted the brake booster out and probably some of surrounding body work.

On the flip side, the engine runs incredibly smoothly, I'm not sure if the 616s idle smoother than the 617s since I've never had a 616, but this one is smooth, and has no sound of nailing at all, even when it was cold. It also got me all the way home without issue. I have to say, driving a 240D with a 4 speed is quite amusing. I'll get some pictures up as soon as I can.

As long as the hole in the floor isn't too bad, and there isn't any structural rust I might see what I can do to bring her back.

The wagon doesn't have papers so I couldn't take it home as I don't have a car dolly, or something to tow it with right now, but I'll probably go back and pull the bits that I can that will fit the 240D.

This is what worries me however, I haven't had time to pull out the mats yet, but it looks like the floor is mostly gone.

I'm pretty good with a welder, so I don't mind patching it up, but if its anything structural I may have to go with plan B, which would be finding a good body with a blown engine and using the drivetrain from this one in it.

Ha ! Actually, I had it in my head that you lived in that area... another forum I'm on has a whole bunch of guys from that general area, so I guess I just grouped you with them .

That said, my general knowledge about Canadian geography is probably something that you could reasonably knock .

I don't suppose anyone near me has a spare w123 body laying around..lol… I briefly looked under the 240D on my way out today and to it looks like the subframe mounts are completely gone…. I'll have to take a closer look, but if thats the case then I'll have to write off the body. I'm could weld the floor pans and what not no problem but when it come to s structural pint like the mount I'd rather not be fooling around...

You want more than the 240d parts of the wagon. The head and the SLS pump are worth some $$ just by themselves. I'd pull all the SLS parts if it were me.
