Question About How to Work the Forum

The other forum that I'm active on allows you to immediately jump to the last time you looked at a post instead of scrolling thru the post to get to wherever you left off.

Does this forum have that function? I'm kind of an online idiot so it's possible that I just don't know how to do this on here.

Thanks

Dan

notice the little arrow next to the username of the last poster? it lets you jump to the last post on a thread... that's the best we have I think... I'll look into the settings and see if there is a feature to jump to the last read post...
at least there is a system in place to notify you of threads that have had posts since you last looked...

I never noticed that little arrow before. well what do you know?

If it is a long thread with many pages, I click on the last page, then hit the "end key" then scroll up to the last post. Or hold the button down on the scroll bar and slide it down.

Wonder what other neat tricks I haven`t noticed.?

Thanks! I'll try that the next time.

On the other forum (uses a different format, I'm sure) when you open a thread there's a little icon right next to the thread name. If you click that it takes you right to the next entry after your entry. In fact, I think it takes you to where you left off reading even if you didn't post so it must keep track of what you read or at least the time that you were last into that thread.

But the little arrow trick is still a big help.

If you click the box with a down arrow (a V basically) to the left of the thread title (not in the thread but in the list of threads), that will take you to the first post made since you last visited (newest unread post). Clicking the arrow next to the username on the right will take you to the last post made period, but there could have been posts before that, which you'll miss.

The only thing is that on this forum the "go to newest unread post" seems to stop working on certain threads and only loads the newest page but doesn't automatically scroll down to the newest post... Must be a quirk somewhere.
