1977 300D at the Cape Fear PnP

I know some of you guys were saying that early Benz Diesels were getting hard to find in the boneyard. Just thought I'd let you know that there's a '77 300D at the Cape Fear PnP on highway 421 near Wilmington, NC. I'll be out that way perhaps as early as tomorrow and I'll take a look and see what's there.

If it was a turboDiesel I'd grab the engine as a backup but I don't think the NA would do me much good.

Let me know if there's any interest in specific bits and I'll take a look.

Dan

It has an auto trans and the body shell is excellent. I didn't see any major dents and notice that the rear wheel arches look perfect. Dash pad looks fine. They don't tend to keep Diesel Benzes in stock for long so if anyone's interested they need to get themselves over there.

Here's the pics:

More pics

The car looks sort of white in the pics but really it's baby blue. As you can see, someone got a couple of the doors. Other than the driver's seat the interior looks pretty good.

I agree that that was a decent car. No clue how it ended up there - probably auto trans issues or electrical gremlins (but that's speculation on my part).

If I wasn't waist-deep in the S-10 I yank the dash and interior as well as other bits and pieces but I don't have time to mess with it. But there it sits waiting for YOU.......

Sounds like a good source of the trailing arms I will need sooner or later. I am not that far from Wilmington at present, but can't see myself removing those arms while down here. Do they offer a removal service?

They have a team of guys who hang around the yard and will do jobs for pay. They're pretty fair in their prices from my experience. I always ask for a price up front and it's usually low enough that I hand them a little extra - but don't pay 'till the job's done (they work cash only). Keep in mind that the parts pullers are in no way associated with PnP so no warranties are expressed or implied. The counter staff will, however, point you toward the parts removal guys.

Maybe you and Simpler can work out a deal and have the guys pull your stuff and his intake. As I said, I just am too short on time to get involved right now.
