What is this leak?

Gentlemen,

Could you tell me what this leak (top left) might be from so I can research it a little better?

I thought my differential was leaking and so I jacked up the car to replace the fluid and noticed it wasn't the diff.

Thanks.

Those valves are rebuildable, and there is a kit available for it.

If you are not inclined to DIY it, there is (or at least was) a forum member who used to rebuild and sell them, I purchased one about four years ago for my wagon. Cannot recall his handle.

Put an ad in the used parts for sale subforum looking for a rebuilder, if no one follows up here with a name.

DIY: Rebuild the self leveling suspension SLS valve on w123 300TD wagon sagging rear

w123 Self-Leveling-System O-ring replacement DIY

Biodiesel300TD sells (or sold) the o-ring kits (see second link above). the units are EASY to rebuild. the hardest part is removing/installing the unit from the vehicle without damaging the lines or fittings

At work right now but will read through the links supplied later tonight, thank you much.

If its the SLS, is it hydraulic fluid that is leaking then?

Thanks,
John

Its a type of hydraulic fluid. If you are looking to refil the bottle I would recommend buying the MB stuff. Febi might have an alternative. Don't just throw any hydraulic fluid in there.

For fluid mineral oil will work as well. I often suggest people use that since it's cheaper and easier to find, until they can rebuild the valve. Then once the valve have been resealed put in the MB or Febi oil.
