Last October is too long ago. Last week, then your results would have more validity.
Given that it starts and runs fine in such cold weather, I'd leave it alone. Cold start is the ultimate test of your compression, and it is passing that test now. Switch to Mobil 1 synthetic, which will gently clean out the rings and all other carbon deposits in the oil circuit, and enjoy the car!

Excellent advice. My signature car suffered from deferred maintenance when I got it, and the Amsoil cured any blowby it had. It starts easily at 0* with one glow cycle.
I've been working on engines for longer than some of you have been around and I don't even own a compression tester.

The previous owner was quite engaged with the car, but it did sit for awhile.
I'll track down this amsoil and give it a go. If that doesn't work, than I'll use miracle oil. It's starting just fine in 4 degree weather, so I'm not feeling like its an urgent problem.
