So you've spent a lot of money on this car and your not going to get it back. Look at it this way, do you like driving the car? If the answer is yes then why not take it to a local indi shop and get an estimate for the oil leak and the blower. If you weight that number against what you'll loose selling it + how much more a new car will cost you, you may find that it makes economic sense to fix it. Also if you have a shop do it odds are it won't be out of commission for more than a day so you won't miss much work (a lot of shops have curtesy cars as well)

I will bet the oil leak is from the oil filter canister gasket.
it all depends on which side of the motor it's from, but MOST leaks are easily found and fixed. passenger's side, could be PCV seals (there are 3 of them) could be turbo oil return... driver's side, oil cooler lines, oil filter lid/canister seals, oil pressure sender, IP...

These cars are actually cheaper to run than a new car. I think of a $300/mo payment for 5 years = $18,000. Most comparably sized cars start at $25,000 minimum and you won't be getting a three point star on the hood. I estimate it takes around $2,500 in parts to restore a 300SD and fix all of the essential things.

Parts, new and otherwise, are pretty cheap on these aged MBs from what I experienced when owning one. Definitely a tinkerer's car.

But to order them as late in the day as I did, and then get them the next morning. This is a first. They were on quite a journey that night, South City to Sac, then down to Watsonville and finally up to Santa Cruz. and Iam only 70 miles from the source. Charlie

The other great thing about these is the insurance and also the registration. In a state like SC with value based registration, both my 87 and 98 are under $50/year each. And the insurance is dirt cheap, even with full coverage. A blessing with two teenage drivers.
