om 603 question

1987 300td....is there a #16 head casting? i have a buddy looking at one and i'm trying to figure the casting number

There is a very rare #15 head where the 15 may look like a 16. I had this on an SDL I owned and at first I thought it read 16. When I inquired at the time, no one, not even the OM603 gurus, knew anything about the #15 head.

Make sure he is looking at the correct part of the casting number:
603 016 xx 01
where xx is the relevant number.

Don't let him get thrown off by that 016.

#16 head was non turbo only. You shouldn't find one in the US unless is a gray market non turbo.

much more common not to look closely enough and have it really be a 14......

yeah he was getting irritated at me on the phone but i kept having him go back and look again. he finally got a flashlight from the guy and said "oh, it's a 14"
