Yeah I went out 2 days ago. I told the guy at the yard there was no way that was a 51 as they had it listed because no pontons were made that year. By the time I got there, the hubcaps, running lights, and mirrors where gone. Still has the block and tranny and driveshaft. inside was awful. All the glass was in very good shape though. Frame and body was very restorable for it's age. Engine head was in trunk with cam shaft and valves. valve cover was missing though.

That engine fan is worth about $100 as it's used on the 190 SLs, probably a few other parts here and there that also fit, things like the interior door handles, the key cylinders for the exterior door handles. The two small radiators in the heaters might be worth something but I don't know if they fit a 121 car.

On the topic of this sorta:

Saw this at Sacramento PnP today. The side of the car read "1959 Mercedes 220." I dont know my early Mercedes but I'm going to take their word for it. There wasnt any rust, but the interior was pretty awful. The 6-cylinder was still in there.

Wow! That rear bumper's in better shape than mine was 40 years ago.
Interior doesn't look that bad either. If my 180 looked that good, I'd consider getting it running again!

You'd think someone would take the wheels off that M-Class.

Amazing how there's no visible cancer on that 220. Just some surface rust & weathering.
Here on the wet & salty side of the nation, that exposed right-side inner fender near the door-hinges and the unibody box-section below it, would be Swiss-cheese!

I just realized this is the same car Deemo13 posted just other other side. I just noticed the paper sticker on the drivers window.

Shame to see these cars in here, but some one has to want them to restore or for parts.

Lol yea I was there the other day looking for exhaust parts for my turbo. the interior was pretty much gone, but the motor and radiator looked in tact, transmission looked like it was there too. Glass was in tact and all of the original rims were there I think.

Ah yes! Another nice example in the boneyard. While over here, mostly we get to haggle over the usual selection of well-salted rustbuckets. A few years back, I went to look at a white '68 stickshift 280SE a friend sold in the early '90s.
The car was pristine when my friend sold it. 16 years later, it was nearly unrecognizable in it's incredibly deteriorated state. Even the main frame-box under the driver's floor was rusted apart.
Monday, they're calling for more snow here!

Happy Motoring, Mark
