OM617 Head Bolt Washers
Does anyone know why MB made available 6mm thick washers for the nine head bolts of 120mm length? The washers I removed from my 1983 300TD were all 3 mm thick--the parts website seems to imply that nine of the thicker ones(from MB) are required which I am assuming are for the nine 120 mm bolts. Presumably the remaining 13 bolts continue to use the 3mm thick washers?

I have no idea, but I *think* I used some 6mm washers when I had to grind out old 3mm ones.
I doubt the extra thickness would cause any kind of failure on a stock engine.

Thicker washers resist turning more AFAIK.
