300sdl Transmission disengages...
I have an 87 300sdl.... the transmisison just disengages when driving, usually under more than just a moderate throttle; it seems to do it after 2nd gear and up, but I can't be exactly sure what gear it is in before it disengages... The vacuum modulator has already been replaced.
The person I received the tranny from said it may be a valve problem and sent me a shift correction package... but I am unable to install it and the transmission shops only want to put in a rebuilt transmission. Other garages will not even try. My question is: Does anyone have experience with this type of malfunction? Should / would the shift correction kit work? Is there anyone localto Altoona / State College that can provide install assistance or advice? Thanks in advance. |

Momoclo,
Thank you for your response... after reading it I realized a few more details... the transmission does disengage with the shift lever in the 2 position, I think also in the lowest, but not certain. Also, when the transmission was first installed the garage told me that it would not build up pressure at first.... it had to sit and run for a while before it would move.... could this be a sympton of a governor problem? I know the vaccuum modulator was just replaced, but the the problem perists... |
