On my car, someone had snapped a GP off in the head and JB welded a bolt on top of it to seal the hole. I can't imagine much worse and I was able to fix it without removing the head.

Thanks. I'm sure at most shops they would want to remove the head to bill the hours. The post on the homemade extractor seems very straight forward. The hardest part is drilling out the threaded part of the glow plug
