Help with hose routing 3/2 valve - 81 300D non-turbo

2 Attachment(s)
1981 US 300d non turbo. Previous owner removed all hoses from the 3/2 valve. I recently picked up a 3/2 valve from an 83 300SD. I don't need/care about EGR but I have read it may help me starting out in 2nd gear and a flare I have in my auto transmission shifting. If someone has a hose routing diagram that would be great... if I should just plug up the current 3/2 valve can someone let me know what holes to plug? See the setup I am working with below -

here is the correct routing with the EGR removed (for testing purposes)
what would concern me more is you have no control rod or bowden cable going to your transmission

Thank you sleepstar, those photos really help me out. I believe the 1980 and 1981 300D transmissions are quite different. There is no bowden cable or pressure control rod to regulate shifting. It is all controlled by vacuum. If you are not getting enough vacuum to the trans modulator then the transmission may not go into fourth gear so I am looking for vacuum leaks.

The .117 / .118 transmissions used on the non-turbos (some years) are controlled by vacuum only, there is no rod or cable.

My '80 has only a single white valve, but I have been told some have two or even three.

ohhh for some reason i thought the vacuum only transmission was only on 1980

Unfortunately not. It was available on .117 and .118 transmissions in 1980 and 1981 for sure - I think that was it but I'm not 100% sure. The irritating thing is that the pre-1980 transmissions had rods and no vacuum. I would have thought the number hungry gremlins at Mercedes would have given the second versions of these transmissions a different number to help us out; but they didn't.

They showed up on 240Ds until at least 1983 as well.

Progress so far... Does this look correct sleepstar?
