When I dropped the valvebody on mine to replace the bowden cable I read a lot about it and also talked to an old timer mechanic for any tips - it was very hard work though and required very bright lighting - new gasket set required.

What I saw was that the transmission hydraulic gate is closed in P and N - so how can it be having some drive activity unless something is messed up in the valvebody.

Well, everything is working great now after that adjustment and replacing the bushing. Dropped the pan to check just in case and it looks good in there too.
