Climate Control: "just shut the heat off"

Live in HI and need to "just shut the heat off" for my wife, and thinking the easiest solution is to simply bypass the heater core so there isn't the low movement of hot air into the cabin. You guys have any other thoughts that might be even easier than plumbing an alternate coolant flow path? Also, an way to rig the vents to allow cool air to flow in all the time?

In HI you're never going to need heat, right? If so, a heater core bypass might be the cheapest and easiest fix for you. I have a wonky monovalve but I live in a place where sometimes I emphatically need the heater to work, and other times I pretty strongly want it to not work. I predict a ball valve from Home Depot is in my future.

I recently test drove a 78 300D with a bypassed Servo. The owner had put a manual pull/push switch under the dash on the passenger side with a line going thru the firewall to a valve in the bypass hose so if you want heat just pull the knob and if you want no heat, push the knob to shut off the valve. For myself I live in Phoenix and heat is a meaningless waste of time to me so I'd probably just completely bypass the heater core entirely and be done with it.

Why not just cut the inlet heater hose and put a shut off valve in the line?
