15k miles and one year of use happen at about the same time for my '95 E300, that's why I use that mark.

More than likely I'd hit a year first...I have two daily drivers. Also, there was a long thread a while back, started by yours truly, trying to wrestle to the ground what a safe soot level is. No one could produce any solid rationale for the 2% limit (although it was my hope that one could be produced).
