While you have the injectors out, consider also:

- new valve cover gasket and the 6 o-rings in the injector wells
- new hard line support clips and rubber pads
- new return hose
- new breather hoses
- inspect fuel hoses replace if necessary
- replace o-ring on back of shut off valve on IP

Been there before Attn OM606 - inspect under the engine cover

All parts are available at Pelican.

Buy parts link at the top, select your car and browse.

I assume you have the special socket for the OM606 injectors already. If the injectors are out, just remove the bolts holding the valve cover to the head and lift it off. The gaskets apply from the under side of the valve cover.

1997 Mercedes E 300 Diesel engine 606

First, I would like to thanks to all off you for great and useful replies and advices...After I changed o-rings-seals at injection pump, replaced injectors nozzles, belt tensioner,I found out that grinding noise come from alternator...so I replaced that too.Now after I drove 300 miles I noticed a diesel fuel leak around injector number 4 (injector was sunken in diesel fuel) ? car runs fine ,I just installed brand new Bosch nozzles installed by a diesel injection pump shop. So, I guess next what i have to replace will be some seals-o-rings inside cranckcase .?

Did you change the fuel return hoses? Leaky return hose will fill up the well fast.

However, in my case it was a cracked high pressure line that did not become apparent until the line was disturbed for injector removal. This was due to improper support - see the link I posted above in post #4 for the complete story.

Note, if you have lube oil in the well, the problem is the o-ring seal between the valve cover and the port in the head for the injector. There are 6 o-rings around the injectors and one large perimeter gasket. Easy to change if you have the hard lines off, you do not need to pull the injectors out to do this.

Yes,when I redone injectors I replaced return fuel lines and new fire shields, torque injectors 40 nm .I checked today with a magnifier and powerfull light. After I absorbed all liquid from inside injector well I run engine for 1 hour and I couldn't notice a leak ..just wet and a very little bubbling around injector. this is happens only on cylinder 4
