#12 Fuse socket
2 Attachment(s)
Greetings,
Quick question, my blower motor fuse socket seems a bit amiss. There is no, or a different, bottom to it than the rest of the fuses in the box. Noticed this while checking for something else. I don't think this looks normal anyone else seen this before? Also noticed some one moved the strip fuse for the BM as well-zip tied to the master cylinder line--wonder why. I did check voltage at #12 and at the strip fuse and got zero with the key in position 2. Not surprising as the HB is dead and on the list to tackle. Other fuses gave 12V. Treetops. |
You are not saying which Year and Model you have.
The #12 Fuse on My Year and Model gose to a few items but notably the Power Window Relay. So if #12 is dead none of you Power Windows will work. Also on mine the Heater Blower is hooked to the temp switch and it won't operate till the Enging is up to a certain Temperature (that is what the Manual has to say). I am not sure if that is the same in the defrost position. |
My bad and thanks.
87 300TD on mine #12 goes to blower motor. Treetops |
Fuse 12 on 124 is definitely the blower motor.
You should have a factory installed fuse holder, with a 30 A strip fuse, in parallel with #12 mounted on the shock tower. No fuse should be installed in #12 if the strip fuse is in place. This was a factory mod that happened in the middle of the 87 model year after VIN ...A292112 or ...F023505 Prior to that I believe there was a TSB to have that installed at the dealer. The standard fuse is really not up to the task, full blower current is 28 A. Looks like you have a hack job there with the holder zip tied to the vacuum line. |
Ahh seems like this little mystery is solved. I'm assuming that when they did the strip fuse mod they disabled #12 altogether to prevent numb skulls like me from buggering it more.
Thanks for the info Jay Treetops |
