How to read pin (connector) test instructions?

I started to test my climate control servo (ACC II system).

The first tests call for unplugging the electrical multi-pin connectors and testing the servo pins.

How am I supposed to read them? There is no numbering on the servo or connector?

I am looking from above, with the unit in the car.

Is 1, 2, 3 etc from left to right from above, or assuming I had the servo in my hand and was looking at the pins straight-on? (In other words, backwards if seen from above?)

Other times I have done this stuff it was on Bosch connectors, which are usually numbered... or the manual has indicated the wiring colours to the pins in question... so have never been aware of the rule.

I ask as one test involves applying 12v to some pins and I don't want to do it wrong.

Here is the link to the Chrysler manual for this system.

There is a diagram in the back.
