87 300D Issues with bleeding brakes
Today I was trying to bleed the brakes and am having tons of trouble getting all the air out of the system. The car had some damage to the left front and the ABS hydraulic unit was replaced. I went through 3 pints of fluid and am still getting massive amounts of air out of the front two bleeders. Is this normal? Pedal still goes to the floor.
Should I keep bleeding or is there a chance that I have messed up the seals in the master cylinder? |

Power bleeder.
Glorified pump up sprayer. Pedal isn't going to work on a dry abs unit. You may have damaged the mc, but power bleeder will remove all the air.

Thanks VS, I was looking at a pressure bleeder just a bit ago. I was wondering if I was just wasting my time pumping the pedal.

I agree with VS. I was too nervous to use the pump method when I changed all my brake hoses recently, so I opted to use the gravity method instead. Worked for me, but I didn't have a dry ABS unit either. I've used a power bleeder before on other vehicles, they make quick work out of it.
