Some of the "logic" is " Hey that looks nice, my life sucks ,so yours should too. "

Those that take stuff don't see it as steeling. It is _their _stuff and you just happen to have it.

For a window into the "logic" of " They have an expensive car and don't deserve it" See what the following post calls the Mercedes dealer. ( RE: they got lots of money by overcharging. )

My guess is they didn't know they could buy a brand new one (without stone chips in the chrome) for less than $30 at the stealer, at least back then.

Who said it's on the road? It's not on the road . I'll mention it to people, though, and get that reaction...

When the 'SD goes on the road, I'll change my avatar to that of flying pigs .

I'm not worried about them (Saudis). They can afford a new car when it gets keyed. I wish I had oil money!

A loser keyed my old minivan last summer. Pretty sure the culprit. It was a crowded parking lot, with only one space left. I parked perfectly evenly between the white lines, as I always do. The loser on the right was parked crooked. Seems they were peeved that I didn't park crooked to make it easier to swing their door wide (a fat lady?). Don't know the driver, but I recall it was an older Volvo. Thus, not all Euro-car drivers are well-mannered.

I have had coworkers ask me to move my car so they can get in their driver's side easier. Again, I am parked perfectly evenly. Seems if someone is lacking in parking skills they should learn to crawl across the passenger's side, not expect everyone else in the lot to park crooked to accommodate them.

I'm pretty careful about parking straight in the center of the space too, not wishing to be rude or give a mope an excuse to abuse my car.

Sorry to hear about the damage. It's not exclusive to Benzes. My Suburban seems to catch a lot of damage as well.

I have less than 2k in the car, it's 30 years old, I drive this thing because I can drive it for free, it looks like heck because it needs paint and people still say WOW you drive a MERCEDES?!?!? like it's special or something, some people still see it as flaunting your wealth or something i guess and they feel the need strike out to make themselves feel better.
My wife refused to drive the car for quite some time. "I'm not a Mercedes girl." Uhhh.... what?!! The only reason she finally agreed to use it is because she doesn't have to pay for the fuel. Which is really a bit of irony in itself. Who'd think of driving a Mercedes because they don't have a lot of money. Heck, I pick on the VP of our company because I bought my Benz for a tenth of what he paid, and he gets upset as if the car I'm driving is worth anything close to his newer model. It probably doesn't help that I tell him buying the MB was like finding the back door of the country club open.

I've had some stupid things happen on the road with other drivers getting quite agressive so I do try and recognize that people perceive an MB as an expensive car. Kudos to Mercedes for keeping the brand image so strong. Regardless, doing damage to someone else's car for any reason is a sorry way to vent anger or frustration.

This still pisses me off. Honestly if I caught someone in the act of keying my car or doing anything to it I'd probably tackle them or give them a swift kick to the back of the knee..don't **** with my car.

Yup, I know what you mean! I drive an extended cab long bed 3/4 ton GMC work truck, and it irks me no end that I park it better than some goofball driving a compact car... If someone is parked over the line, they BETTER know how to crawl in from the other side!

And if you don't cooperate, it's your fault.

I'm with you, I hate those who can't properly and take it out on "us" who park properly, and expect others to bend over backwards for their inabilities.

I oftentimes wish I had a beater to drive to the store so that I could park properly next to the people who can't park. Yes, there is an evil side to me...

This is why you have your buick.

People donk key my white work van, not that i can tell anyhow, but they do check their cars for door damage. Everyone needs a beater.

The Buick is the nicest car we own. Seriously. The Corolla is probably the closest to beater status, but even it is pretty nice (and it's not mine ).

EDIT: I forgot about my mom's Sienna... so the Buick is the second-nicest car we own.

A problem that would be remedied by rolling one or more cars. As a young man, your family half expects this anyway. Better not to dissapoint them
