My 300D is about 11-12 cents per mile.

So I either park in front of my house or a block away. Sort of makes it hard for me to charge an EV every night. The warehouse where I store my cars is 15 miles away from my house, so that's not a solution either.
Many in Silicon Valley share your situation. More and more companies offer charging facilities at no charge (no pun intended) to employees. HP's had employee charging facilities since at least the mid-90s. That's a better deal than collecting WVO from the cafeteria.

Columbus has some charging stations downtown in the trendy end of town at meters, and the fancy shopping center on the outskirts of the outerbelt is littered with charging stations. The charging stations at the mall are free, I am not sure about the ones at meters.

My high school in Cincinnati has EV charging stations in the guest parking lot, and Ohio state has charging stations on a few spots on Campus.

I will be moving in the next year or two, but the neighborhoods I am looking at are similar to mine in that they are Victorian homes with no garages. If there was a place for me to charge and some kind of a lease incentive (I'm not ready to own a not well known system outside of warranty) I'd consider picking one up. There is no sense for me to drive something exotic to the office, I'll burn petrol in the vintage stuff on weekends.

Why would you rent when you have all those Benzes in your Sig?

BTW, In Canada, we have had the B-Class for quite a while. My daughter has a 2009 model. They are quite spacious cars especially with seats folded down - Cost about C$30k new with gas engine. No diesel or electric yet!

I've seen 2 year old Nissan Leaf with low miles going for $15k or less. I would be tempted if it wasn't so god damn ugly. Now that EVs are proliferating in California the used market the used market should be flush with them in a couple of years. The range really doesn't bother me. I go 854 miles on average between fill ups or about once a month. For long trips I'll keep the diesel the other 90% of the time an EV makes sense.

From what I read, no. A standard 240v outlet will charge it from 0 to 80% in 2 hrs.

Yeah I was wondering about that one too. My 190d 2.2 auto with perfect engine timing (brand new chain 2,000 miles ago) brand new lifters, new vac pump, all belt drive components, and no fan installed, gets about 27-29 city, and maybe 36 freeway. I am also running a 2.85 diff, not the normal 190d one.

I am not complaining, a tank of fuel in the 190d lasts me close to 1.5 months even if I drive it daily....but it certainly isn't getting 40mpg.
