Number 7 or 8 Sach Hydraulic Shock
Anyone know what the numbers 7 or 8 refer to on the Sach Hydraulic shocks?

Yea, I could not find anything either. They seem to work pretty well whatever the difference is.

Are these factory shocks?
I was looking in the W202 tech highlights CD and found the numbers seem to designate valving. ( Compression / extension resistance rates. ) |

Not sure if they are factory but the #7's I pulled off had been there for awhile. I bought a pair of #8's off ebay to replace them. I did not notice the numbers on the old ones until I scraped a layer of crud off. I have seen pictures with the different numbers but can not find what they represent.

I assume this is for your 87TD. This is just a shot in the dark here, but I remember reading somewhere, can;t remember if it was in the FSM or on the forum, that there was an early and a late rear hydraulic shock. They were outwardly very similar\or identical and could be swapped in place on one another. Maybe that's the source of the different numbers?

That makes sense. If I can remember I will ask the next time I am at the dealership.
