A lack of reasonably priced aftermarket parts of reasonable quality; i.e., not URO and not no longer decent brands, and the continuing price increases of MB genuine parts, has a hand in the continuing depreciation of older models.
We need more adjectives to describe odometer readings. If we accept that anything above 100K miles is high, maybe 160K miles is acceptably high or not scary high whereas 320K miles scary high or unacceptably high. Sixto MB-less |

If MB cars are built so well, why are some panicked when the car hits 100K , a figure that most any econo box can limp to and beyond? Or even 150K.
Time hurts a car far more than miles, I'd rather have a newer car with miles Vs an older car with same miles. ( and I have / like older cars ) Buy a car based on overall condition not just what the miles say. Car fax / KBB junkies buy into a myth not reality. Not everything shows up on CF and "The Book" never bought a car. If someone left the sun roof / windows open in a rain storm that won't show up on CF unless the owner claimed it on insurance. In 95 I bought a 91 Dodge with 70K for Mom to drive. At the time it was high miles for a 4 year old car, now the car has ~ 110K and it is low ( for the year ) miles. |
