84 126 truk lock?????

Having some problems with operation of the trunk lock and have a couple of questions. There is a black electrical device fastened into the lock mechanism. Is it a micro switch or electrical solenoid? What does it do?
The vacuum rod will not move when the central locking system is locked and unlocked. There are no leaks as the vacuum pump shuts off as normal. The push button will no longer open the trunk when the car is unlocked. Will open with a cc turn and push in. Can the whole locking mechanical assembly be removed through the access port, I does not look large enough. What is the trick? There is always a trick, it's a Mercedes.
Thanks for your input.

I am going to make a guess that the Black Box is part of the Security System.

You might as well Test the Trunk Vacuum Actuator just in case. On a W123 the Vacuum Lines going to the Trunk run down the side with the Fuel Fill Door.

This is a pic I copied from one of our members.

Thanks Diesel. That makes sense. The black box looks a little hunky for a switch. I applied a voltage to it and it jumped back, neet.
The other problem is due to no motion from the vacuum pod.
I will try to remove it some how.

There is a procedure to unlock the trunk after the control unit is disconnected. I will send a PM.

Your trunk lock removes to the inside. You will have to remove some covers to get to it but once you do it slides right out. Then you can clean it up and check it out.
