Where is the fuel tank strainer located on a W124?

I'm trying to get my fuel tank strainer out, but .....where is it? Do I get to it from the left rear of the car, right rear, or is it in the center? I have a snake camera that I put up in those areas, and I don't see it anywhere.

Thanks,

jeff 1991 300d, 185k

Look where the supply hose comes out of the bottom of the tank. Follow that hose to the tank. The hose screws onto the screen nozzle.

Maybe I just found my own answer...

After all the googling I did and getting nowhere before posting, I just now saw this, which says it's on the passenger side, just above the rear axle....

I'm thinking this would be a lot easier on a lift rather than just jacking the car up, but I haven't got a lift!

Do you think this can be done by jacking the car up? I can't see the hose. It must be way up there. There's no way I can get it from jacking the car up.

I you can get it in the air high enough you should be able to get in there to it. Use caution working underneath the car. You might be able to use some portable ramps and back the car up on them.

It is right above the diff in my 1987 300D. I would expect it is the same for your model year. I just removed and cleaned it last week with the rear tires up on the ramp.

Ramps made it plenty easy for me. Luckily the W124 sits high enough that it is easy to pull onto ramps. I also assume you know this but make sure you get the right size socket to fit over the strainer nut.
