My wife and I are celebrating our 49th wedding anniversary in less than a month. So as a newbie here, but long in the tooth in all other things, let me wish you the best. Your wife and your car are stunners!! That cake is great!

My wife has spent our entire married life, and 5 years of dating prior, getting as hooked on cars (and boats, guns, bicycles, etc., etc.) as I have. It is extraordinarily grand to share passions with one's life partner. But remember, it's a two way street. Try to develop some level of passion for her interests too.

Congratulations on the nuptials! I will be doing the same thing in October. I hope my SD will look as nice as your CD does. It is good to see that your wife, like mine, has agreed to let you have some say in the wedding ceremony/reception.

As for your newer vehicles, I am sad to say, but I think you picked the worst of the worst with both of them. The mid-90's Taurus is noted for transmission problems. My mom had one puke some planetary gears or something like that in New York during a trip from MA to TX. The Saturn, is well, a Saturn. I have never known a Saturn owner who had a good running Saturn. A cousin of mine had one back in the early 90's and I don't recall it lasting very long until he got rid of it. I think it was brand new when he bought it, too.

Bayou Fisher, I appreciate yours and every body else's best wishes. Wow 49 years, well I'm in it for the long haul too. And you're right it really is a two way street, thats why from time to time, I turn wrenches on her Corolla

Eatont9999, During the last final chaotic days of wedding planning, you need to somehow find the time to hand wax your SD with Brazilian paste wax Amazon.com: Mothers 05550 California Gold Pure Brazilian Carnauba Wax Paste - 12 oz (Ultimate Wax System, Step 3): Automotive

And as for the newer vehicles, I have no say in what they give me. Our office has no budget for a vehicle but the county motor pool provides us with whatever is left. If I stay here long enough maybe they'll hook me up with the sheriff's black H1 slantback . We asked for a SUV because occasionaly I have to go down rutted, muddy roads. I try to take care of these vehicles but I swear, if the saturn gives up the ghost, I'm gettin a 300TD with taxi springs/pads and 31's.

2 weeks, no clue

2 WEEKS and the dealership still doesnt know whats wrong with that damn mother F%$$*&# hybrid. If this was my personal car, I'd have some choice words for the service advisor who thinks its alright to keep your car for 2 weeks, offer no loaner, and return the car with the same problem it came in with. You ARE GM, YOU designed and built this car but a DTC has you stumped? I doubt I'll be taking it back to the shop for anything other than oil changes if I ever get it back. I'll put tape over the engine light. When you know of a problem with a product you produced with your name on it, whether or not it was revealed after release or before, it needs to be fixed by GM. Mercedes got the point back in the 90's when the A class flipped during the "Elk test." What did they do? They recalled all W168's sold and HALTED PRODUCTION to determine a fix. They fixed the problem by adding electronic stability control. It seems like automakers are pushing S&!t out the door without testing components for quality or longevity. Sadly we live in a world where the bottom line drives terrible decision making and saving face means nothing anymore.

Sorry I had to vent,

V/R,
Willson

Very classy.

..and, a classic scenario for a great classic.

Thanks for sharing.

Can we get a post of the month (or year) award for this one?

@ Waste Gate, the Saturn will never give up the ghost. I have a 97 that came with my GF when she changed to my wife. The Saturn always runs. It only recently started needing 1 can of freon at the beginning of the year. It has been the least expensive car I've ever owned. Fuel mileage (guess I could have said "gas mileage") is 30mpg and gas is cheaper than diesel.

It is also the car that has been the least fun to drive. It was worth putting up with to get my wife.

And ours was a maroon '61 190Db. Certainly not as classy as a CD, but heck they hadn't even been built yet !!!

Oh by the way GM stands for Garbage Moteurs around here !!!

Nice 123!

I have had a few of the 123 coupes; yours looks a lot like my first, a 1974 230C Euro version. What a great car.

The fellow that sold me my 300SD years ago had tears in his eyes as I was taking it away. "It was my daughters wedding carriage" he said. Best wishes on your future with your lovely bride.

Very cool, Wilson.

Congrats on getting hitched. I think more folks should have their "drive off" in a classic Benz. Nothing better than seeing a beautiful woman in a great car!
