On my '85 190D with 2.2L, the PO used a shorter belt and eliminated the tentioner using the alternator adjustment to tention the belt. Has been working for 3 years and 20K+ miles. Might be an alternative if the threads are hosed?

SAGA CONTINUES
Sorry so long away been trying to hustle up some money. none of the shops in my "near" vicinity have an 18mX1.5 tap or Helicoil tool. so I'm trying to get the 159$ together to by the dern thing. the tool cost more than all my front end parts and the tensioner all together.
@om603 I looked at that tool and I may get it and try it. I saw one on ebay for like 27$ with shipping which is what my "helicoil kit refund" turned out to be. The majority of my threads are on the old part so I don't know that it will help, and I really have never had much success with jb weld in load bearing situations. but hey till I get the helicoil tools why not. @ah-kay really? dude really? and No. That would be the norm. Yea...... welll..... I'll save my sarcasm for another day. Presumptuous insulting and rude are the three adjectives that come readily to mind, none of which would make one consider you "helpful". How you arrived at your "opinion" is beyond my ability to fathom, nor do I desire to know how you came to it, but I will say it is most unwelcome. Truly as an old sailor once said "your opinion is like your anal anal orifice, it should be kept private, both having much in common. Unbearable stench!" . You sir have done yourself a serious disservice. |

btw: Please read post #5 AND #14 AGAIN. Please do not say I do not try to help, twice in fact. I advised you to remove the complete Water Pump if you cannot remove the WP pulley. |
