Brake Pads

The brake pads that are on the car when I bought it squeal like a pig, even with new rotors. I've got to replace them, I believe they were just the cheapest pads from Oreillys. What kind do y'all recommend. Also, did these cars come stock with ceramic or semi- metallic?

Textar made the pads I installed on my 280E and they didn't squeal and did a great job stopping the car but the amount of dust was horrible. I am pretty sure I have ceramic pads on my 300E which has no squealing or dust but the pedal is firmer than my 300TE which doesn't have ceramic pads and produces a lot of dust. Akebono is one brand that lots of folks here recommend if you go ceramic.

If you don't mind dust the original equipment work well. A high quality ceramic such as Hawk street pads is nearly dustless and gives great performance. They are different performance than oe pads though so you need to change all four wheels at a time or you will get early lockup on the end with the ceramic pads.

I use Textar also.

I do apply a coating of anti squeal paste, available at most auto part stores, on the back and sides of the pads.
