so i think it is the engine shock.
the bolt just spins doesn't tighten and the rubber seems separated form the inside of the engine shock |
Read post #8 from this thread. Mach4 is correct. Replacing the engine shock will not cure your problem.
The problem is that your motor is shaking, not the fact the shock or its mount is gone. It should not be shaking that way in the first place. I drove a 300sd for years with no engine shocks even installed. |
grrr.
i did read that. it appears i bought a bad engine mount...they are phoenix. ugh thanx guys :) |
You can see the mount has failed?
I ask because if so, it's the first report I can recall of a Phoenix mount failing so prematurely... they are the OE manufacturer to Mercedes and the preferred brand. Anything is possible, of course.... If it is the mount, can you snap a pic for us, please? Would be interested to see any manufacturer markings on the mount. No chance you still have the boxes the mounts came in, I suppose.... |
Motor mounts will not cause an engine to shake, they will allow it to shake if it's not idling smoothly. I would go after the RD as others have suggested.

Basics first please
The rack adjustment should never be needed unless someone has messed with it or the injection pump has been replaced.
The logical FIRST thing to do is adjust your valves. That is the most prominent source of rough running/idling in our cars and is the only thing that goes out of adjustment on a regular basis. A valve set out of adjustment is usually QUIETER rather than noisier. |
When I sold my 300D to a teenager around the corner, I wouldn't sell it to him, unless he knew how to adjust the valves (which I had him do) - he mixed up the intake exhaust on #1 ... It ticked like like a grandfather clock on Red Bull. - He wasn't too happy about taking everything apart again, but he did. He still has it, after at least 6 years :)
It had the old dampener screw....the spring in it was weaker than the spring in the new one. |
hmm rack dampener...exactly what does that do..
|
It acts a a buffer to keep the governor from hunting at idle speed. Manually slow your idle down with the stop lever under the hood. If the idle smooths out as you take control of the fuel rack, the damper is the culprit.
|
ill psot a video of my engine idling tomorrow..maybe im just nuts.
this is a great possibility. :) she starts fine and runs fine. but seems to shake weird sometimes when i accelerate..or when im at a stop light.. when i control the throttle form the engine bay i can see it shake visibly more. |

hey, you have to check the engine transmission mount if its worn out or loose. Diesel engine is really violent even if the engine in idle mode. So check the mounts because it is most likely worn out just like everybody else.

Sounds like you may need mounts and shocks. |
