Stolen 240D in Seattle

Hey all;

For all forum members in the Seattle area. I just had my beloved 1981 cream-colored 240D stolen last night. It was parked in front of my house in the north Seattle area. If you see one with license plate number 289XDU around town, please call the police or me. Thanks.

You're not by any chance friends with anyone mentioned in this thread are you?

STOLEN 1981 240d Seattle

The general feeling was that no one would steal a 240D

Nope, sounds similar though. The cop said people just leap frog with different stolen vehicles. Grab one, drive where he needs to go, ditch it, then steal another. I'm hopeful it turns up like in that other guy's thread.

Might be a bit slow getting this info out, this being the weekend and people doing family stuff. Things should pick up this evening and during the week.

With the Steering lock working and the wheels turned, seems like it would be a problem to take one. Could be someone with a Tow Rig snatched it?

Got (full-coverage) insurance? I'm reading here on-forum that some insurance policies are paying $6K and more for them these days.

If you have full-insurance on it, you may come out way ahead on the deal by making a claim - if it's lost for good.

It's fully insured, but to be honest, I'd rather have my car back. I'll hear from an insurace agent tomorrow to see how this goes down.

IF your car can be substantiated as a gem, because of it's miles and condition, it's worth a lot of money.

Good luck with your getting the car back. I'd rather have my own old MB than a replacement too!

Update in case anybody is interested. Insurance has given up the search and they are paying out. $5200 out the door. Not bad since I paid $1800 and put about $2500 into it. Now it's time to find a 300TD and put a manual transmission on it. Thanks for all the eyes out there keeping a look out.

I live near Everett and work in Bothell, occasionally driving down to Northgate/U-District to hang out with friends. I'll keep a look-out for this one, buddy!
