Power steering hose connector issue
Here's the lamest question of all time I suspect. But, for the life of me (I've spent the last hour trying) I can't get the high-pressure hose to thread into the power steering pump...it simply will not start. Is this always a PITA or is there something wrong, I have two pumps and two hoses they are both the same.

Several Years ago someone had the same issue and pretty much got the same response as marturo said.
If thinges get desperate I uppose you could remove the Power Steering Pump to get a better position and leave the Hose Nut screwed on loose while you re-install it. Are these Real Mercedes Hoses or are they aftermarket Hoses. If they are Aftermarket it could be a host of issues including the wrong threads. |
I replaced the high-pressure p.s. hose recently on my 85 300D. I had no problems starting the thread. However, I think wagons are different since most have the self-leveling suspension hydraulics coming off there.
BTW, I replaced just the hose. The fittings on the pressure hose are "field replaceable", i.e. they unscrew so you can replace the hose. Search here for posts and photos. |
Thanks guys, I got it, then had the same struggle with the oil line from the oil filter to the oil pressure gauge. I think why I'd struggle with these is they feel cross threaded when they do finally thread, they are pretty tight all the way down...bugs me, but I guess that's part of the seal.
