Correct rear spring part # 2005 e320 cdi??

Hi all -- The rear springs on my CDI are broken at the final turn on lower part of the spring. This can only be seen when the car is on a lift or a mirror is used to look into the cup the spring sits in. Apparently this is common problem with the W211 and may be result of poorly formed springs used in manufacture.

I know Mercedes used different springs for different versions of the E320 CDI worldwide. Was only one type of spring used stock in US?

What is the correct part number for the replacement spring? The color code on mine appears to be 1 blue stripe and 2 yellow stripes.

I will be in Germany and can get Bilstein B3 springs for about $35 each. The MB part number is: 211 324 02 04. the Bilstein # is: 36-154142.

Interesting to hear that this was a common problem. Is this the case just with the rears or the fronts as well? My rears were replaced at 108k miles.

PO did it so I don't know details.

Yes, I know about the color coding. My recollection, from when I replaced the front springs on my 98, is there is a point system in the EPC....certain features add points, and that determines the exact spring you need to get.
