W123 accelerator firewall pivot
I’m looking for a 123-300-13-40 Accelerator linkage pivot mount for a 1985 300TD. It bolts to the firewall with two screws and connects the accelerator pedal linkage to the engine accelerator shaft. Appears to be unobtanium these days, even from MB Classic center.
Anyone have a stash or a source? Many thanks! -Dan |

Note this part was had to find 4 months ago. Some people managed to get what was left in stock. I also noticed that some places back at that time had more then one Ad for them and some of there Ads said they were in stock and others ads from the same company said out of stock. Used on eBay or of course a Junk Yard.

At least the rubber part is smooshed out and causing the loss of about 1/2 of the throttle. I have not removed to see about the plastic ball on the back, but will shortly.

I don't know how much heat superglue can take but when I measured the under the hood temp in 80 degree F weather at idle at a so stop the under the hood temp goes up to around 190 degrees F. When you start moving the under the hood temp quickly falls to with in 5 degrees of the outside temperature.

As kind of a shot in the dark, I’ve ordered a 123-300-23-25-MBZ from pelican parts and a metal ball from eBay.
In the theatre of my mind, the two can go together to make something like the original. Will update this thread as I progress. https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/1233002325.htm?pn=123-300-23-25-MBZ&gclid=Cj0KCQiAlZH_BRCgARIsAAZHSBmTn8xN7tFLz39kD7z3PFr3Jrp1kCX29pD10KALhvD0ZpACCJ4TeNEaAvPTEALw_wcB https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Repair-Kit-W123-Accelerator-Linkage-Pivot-for-A1233001340-A1233001540-used-/303797668513?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49292 |

There’s a guy on Facebook that’s taking old cores and replacing the ball with stainless steel and selling them for $150 - if that interests you

When I had my w123, I had to replace the rubberized plastic bushing. The hard plastic was fine.

W123 Accel Pivot Repair

I had a used car come in with this repair and it was fine and dandy, I could feel slight vibrations in my foot so I replaced it with a N.O.S. part . I've seen two W123's with large corks carefully trimmed to suit, they worked perfectly but I doubt would last long . I'm quite surprised Uro doesn't make the simple molded plastic ball piece . (HINT)

Skateboard wheel see post 1.
FSM question, firewall accelerator linkage answer Something wit PVC Pipe. WTB: W123 Accelerator Linkage Bushing "I used a pvc pipe fitting I had in the garage, using the metal bracket outside, ID worked, OD had hex? to hold in center, cut off to fit length, probably cost .69 cents. All it has to do is center the throttle shaft in the bracket and not bind. 5 years no noticeable wear.?

Years ago, the rubber split in my 1985 300D. I wondered why flooring it only allowed 30 mph and slow acceleration. As a temp fix, I wired it tight with re-bar tie wire. Today, I would my the thinner stainless wire from Harbor Freight for a purty look. I later replaced with a good one from the junkyard, plus have a bag of a few more. I grab critical "not avail" parts like that when at the junkyard. Other owners might hate me, but at least I saved parts from being scrapped. M-B went to extremes to shield rich owners from the bothers of the road, like a shaky pedal, driveshaft vibrations, or blowing cold air on your face, but most of these impact long-term reliability.
