300SDL - Seat moves when cranking engine

When I turn the key all the way to crank, my passenger seat begins to move back. It will do this as long as I hold down the key....how are these related??? I can usually figure out some logic to these problems but this one stumps me.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Its possible that the seat is intimidated by the mighty OM603 and is backing away....

I imagine that would be a grounding problem or a shorted wire somewhere....the power seats have relays in the fuse box.

Tracking that down could be fun...

Can always just unplug the power cable under the seat from the motors if you don't need to move the seat often.

I don't know what the power seat diodes do but things go crazy when the diodes go bad.

Are they memory seats or non-memory?

They are memory. I was thinking that maybe on of the settings was stuck or something? I don't really use the settings so maybe I can try to unplug the battery and see if resetting it changes anything.

did this get resolved?

Was there any solution to this problem found?

Inexplicably my driver's seat started doing this yesterday, moves backbwhile cranking the key snd anlso my seat memory no longer works.

Is this in the switch, motor, diodes etc? No idea how yhe seats are tied into the ignition system to create a cross bet5them.

TIA

Thanks Chris,

Will do. Do you know where the seat motor pack harness grounds typically are?
