while i have the headliner out....

Im replacing the headliner in my 300d 2.5 with a sunroof. Is there anything up there that requires maintenance while I have it out?

I noticed the cable shroud for the sunroof has blueish/green corrosion on it and I didn't know if that was normal or if I should take it down and lube it or something.

Clear sunroof drains? Not sure on 124 but on the 123 the back ones drain out behind the c pillar.

while your headliner is out make sure you water test for any leaks before you put the headliner back into the car. Place a hose on the roof and water test for about 10 minutes long enough to allow all the crusted dry debris to become moist and flow with the water helping to expose any water leaks.

Commend problems:
#1) Sunroof Drain Tubes become clogged from lack of maintenance
#2) Sunroof seals can age and allow more water to come into your sunroof cartridge than what the drain tubes can handle
#3) Window seals shrink with age and sometimes window channelings rust out.
#4) Door seals shrink with age as well and some times allow more water in.

All of the above can only be tested while the headliner is out of the vehicle. If you cant see it with your own eyes you will never be able to resolve any issues you cant see.

Let me know if I can help in any way. Bill

I'm wondering what the difficulty level is to remove and replace just the headliner and approximately the amount of time required. I ask this because at some point I would like to remove mine to repair roof hail damage the paint less method. Thanks in advance.
