Radiator for a 1986 300sdl
After doing a search on this forum, the only radiator available seems to be by wizard cooling, all aluminum for $717.00 shipped. This is out of my price range at the time as I am working part time minimum wage. Has anyone looked at using the radiator out of a 81 to 85 300d,300sd and 300td? (Behr1265003503) I know the mounting would have to be modified and the smaller lower hose fitting would have to be plugged. I cant seem to find the exact dimensions of this radiator. Is it big enough to cool the 603? It did ok cooling the 5 cylinder turbos.

1. Both engines are the same displacement. Could work.
2. Another SDL owner replaced the engine fan with a electric one. This enabled the routing of the upper hose to the right side. Used a gas radiator. 3. If a brass gas radiator was located, the hose neck could be moved from the right to the left.

Thanks for the input NJ300sdl. I ordered a gas radiator (1989 560sel) with the top inlet on the opposite side. There should be enough room to run a hose to the other side. I got my hands on a radiator from a 5 cyl and it is 5" narrower. To small. I'll get the radiator this Friday and let everyone know how it works.

If it doesn't work, I've got a good used one that I will sell you.
