Wierd problem
My latest project was replacing the dash wood in my '84 300Sd.
Getting the air directors out of the dash was very easy, just use a small screwdriver to pull in on the rotating latch pins and pull gently out on the unit. However, now that I have the new dash wood installed I can't get the air deflectors back into the dash. The holes have either gotten smaller or the deflectors have grown in size. Neither one of these seem possible, so what has happened? The center deflectors had to come out to get to the 3 screws that hold the skinny piece of wood that runs over them to the glove box. The wood doesn't interfere with where the deflectors go, so it isn't a problem with the wood touching the deflectors. So these should just pop back in. The deflector by the drivers door has part of the plastic from the dash surround that is slightly in the way but even then the hole seems to have shrunk. Any ideas or insight would be helpful Thanks

Solved the problem.
Small plastic hammer and a few well placed taps reseated the air vents.
